SnippetPilot is a free, local-first snippet manager for macOS, Windows and Linux. Its main strengths are compatible library data across platforms, encryption and offline use. No account is required.
Cross-platform compatibility means moving library content through supported export/import formats, not sharing the live application database or automatically syncing devices. Compatible versions preserve snippets, collections and variables. Device-specific settings and credentials stay on their original device.
Use full JSON exchange for readable data or password-encrypted .spvault exchange for sensitive transfers. JSON, CSV and text exports are plaintext. CSV and text are not complete library backups. Keep the exchange password separately; it cannot be recovered for you.
Current editions (Windows 1.2, macOS 1.0 and Linux 1.0) encrypt the whole library database by default and offer an optional app lock. Local database and credential files are not portable exchange files. Historical Windows 1.0.x releases use an earlier storage model; check your installed version and migration instructions. Encryption does not protect text after you copy it to the clipboard or export it as plaintext.
Quick Panel helps you find and copy snippets. Quick Capture saves only the text you explicitly review and choose to keep; it is not an automatic clipboard-history recorder. Shortcuts, permissions and text-expansion behavior depend on the platform, desktop environment and installed release.
SnippetPilot works offline. It has no telemetry or built-in updater and does not automatically upload, cloud-sync or send snippets to an AI model. The website and external download services process ordinary web requests separately.
System requirements: macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon or Intel; Windows 10 or later (x64); Ubuntu 22.04+ or Debian 12+ on x86_64. A platform download is offered on this website only after its installer is published. The Windows Microsoft Store listing is a separate distribution channel; do not assume it matches the latest direct release.
App interface languages: English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian.
