Choose your platform. Keep your library.

macOS

Get the disk image (.dmg) from Download. It is one universal app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 14 or later, signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Open the disk image and drag SnippetPilot to Applications. This is not a Mac App Store distribution.

Windows

Use Microsoft Store or a published Windows installer or portable ZIP. Check the version shown for your chosen channel; the Store and direct releases can differ.

Linux

Get the .deb package from Download. It supports Ubuntu 22.04+ and Debian 12+ on 64-bit Intel or AMD processors (x86_64); there is no ARM build. In the folder that contains the file, run sudo apt install ./snippetpilot_VERSION_amd64.deb with the actual file name. apt checks the required system libraries. Then open SnippetPilot from the applications menu. To update, install the newer .deb; your library is kept.

Before updating

Export a complete backup, close SnippetPilot and follow the package instructions. Preserve the local library and credentials. Do not assume a Store listing provides automatic updates for an EXE-based installation.

Cross-platform exchange support belongs to compatible releases. Older Windows 1.0.x downloads remain in the version history and do not acquire newer features just because the website has changed.

Verify the exact file

Compare the published SHA-256 with the downloaded file. In Windows PowerShell use Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 .\YOUR-FILE. On macOS use shasum -a 256 /path/to/YOUR-FILE; on Linux use sha256sum /path/to/YOUR-FILE.

These commands inspect the file; they do not run it. Check the source and publisher as well. Do not bypass browser or operating-system warnings automatically.
