Private text, with clear boundaries.

SnippetPilot works offline. You do not need an account, and library contents are not automatically uploaded or sent to an AI service.

Encryption and portable files

Choose password-encrypted .spvault for sensitive library exchange. Use a strong, separate password and keep a safe copy. Lost export passwords cannot be recovered for you.

JSON, CSV and text exports are plaintext. Encrypting your library does not encrypt text after it is copied to the system clipboard or pasted into another application.

Local protection

Current editions (Windows 1.2, macOS 1.0 and Linux 1.0) keep the whole library database encrypted with SQLCipher. By default, the key is protected for your user account on that computer: by Windows credentials, the macOS Keychain or a key managed by the Linux app. You can set your own database password instead. An optional app lock, off by default, adds a separate password before the library opens.

Do not move the database file without its credentials; use an export instead. Historical Windows 1.0.x releases use an earlier storage model. Follow their migration instructions; a historical download does not gain current security features.

Everyday care

Lock your computer, keep independent encrypted exchange backups and review content before sharing. Encryption does not protect an unlocked device from every malicious program, hide all metadata or securely erase every deleted copy.
