Text expansion and compatibility

Data compatibility and text expansion are different things: your library can move between platforms even when keyboard integration differs.

Start with copy and paste

Quick Panel and the main library let you find and copy saved text on every platform. Paste it yourself in the destination application.

Where expansion is available

  • Windows: off by default. Turn it on in Settings to replace a unique shortcode as you type in standard Windows text fields. Browsers, Word, VS Code and other custom editors keep what you typed.
  • Linux: available only in X11 sessions and in applications you explicitly allow. It is not available on Wayland.
  • macOS: not available. SnippetPilot for Mac does not monitor typing or simulate input; type a shortcode in Quick Panel to find the snippet instead.

Try a harmless abbreviation first. Do not assume identical behavior in every browser, editor, password field or remote desktop. Disable expansion when handling sensitive input or when it conflicts with an application.

Send compatibility feedback with your OS, app version and target application.
